Our current crop of ‘White Marseilles’ fig was mixed up with another yellow fig, possibly ‘Tena.’ We are calling these plants Yellow Surprise Fig. Both fig varieties are short-necked with sweet, high-quality fruit that has a greenish-yellow exterior and pale yellow inner flesh. The fruit can be eaten fresh or dried for later use. Yellow Surprise Fig is an early ripening fig that usually starts fruiting at the end of July and continues through early Sept. It’s hardy in zones 6-9.
