Red Dragon Flower (Huernia schneideriana)

Red Dragon Flower is an unusual succulent with 6-8” stems covered with soft, fleshy teeth and 1” reddish flowers that appear at the base of the plant. Related to stapelia and hoodia, Huernia scheideriana is easy-to-grow as a potted plant in the home or garden but needs a shallow container and potting mix with excellent drainage to prevent overwatering, since that can kill the plant. Grow in bright, indirect sunlight near an east or west-facing window. If the stems start to turn purple, move the plant to a location with less direct sunlight.
